Development Engineer – Axle & Suspension

Om tjänsten The client is looking for a Development Engineer with a strong focus on axle systems and testing/proving to strengthen the Swedish team supporting the development organisation in China. The consultant will contribute across the development cycle, with particular emphasis on verification, testing, troubleshooting and technical investigations, while also supporting design and concept work. The assignment is onsite in Södertälje four days per week and initially runs for 12 months, with the possibility of extension.

The role involves close collaboration with designers, mechanics and test and proving functions in Sweden, as well as daily interaction with colleagues in China. Workdays typically start early to enable collaboration across time zones. Mornings are often dedicated to technical reviews, test result analysis, investigations and presentations, while afternoons allow more flexibility for hands-on analysis, design support and problem-solving. The work varies and includes test planning support, analysis of test data, root cause analysis, concept evaluation, design feedback and method support.

The Swedish team consists of project leaders and designers, working closely with workshops, test tracks and laboratory environments. The consultant will act as a technical link between development, testing and the Chinese organisation, presenting findings, lessons learned and recommendations. Occasional business trips to China may occur.

Arbetsuppgifter The consultant will support axle development through testing and verification activities, contribute to planning and follow-up of tests, analyse test results and failures, perform root cause analyses and propose design or method improvements. The role also includes supporting designers with technical input, participating in concept evaluations, and presenting technical conclusions to both Swedish and Chinese stakeholders. Tasks vary depending on project phase and test maturity.

Din profil • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or equivalent • 5–15 years of relevant experience • Experience with axle systems, chassis or heavy-duty vehicles • Experience from testing, proving, verification or validation within vehicle development • Ability to analyse test results and drive root cause investigations • Knowledge of Catia, OAS or equivalent CAD tools • Strong command of English Meriting • Experience working within Scania • Deep technical knowledge of heavy-duty axles • Background from test environments, workshops or proving grounds • Experience from complete vehicle development The role suits someone who is service-oriented, collaborative and clear in communication. Since the organisation is highly international, the consultant needs to adapt communication to different audiences and cultures. A structured, analytical mindset, patience in technical discussions and a strong problem-solving drive are essential.
