We are looking for a practical and motivated Marine Systems Technician to join our growing team working on Uncrewed Surface Vehicle (USV) platforms. This is a hands-on role focused on the installation, integration, and testing of maritime electronic systems on autonomous and remotely operated vessels.
You will play a key role in turning designs into working systems, ensuring that complex marine electronics are installed to a high standard and are reliable in demanding maritime environments.
Key ResponsibilitiesInstallation and integration of marine electronic systems into USVs, including:
Radar, sonar, and camera systems
Navigation and situational awareness sensors
Engine controllers, power distribution, and vessel control electronics
Electrical installation work including cabling, connectors, terminations, and looms suitable for marine environments
Integration of electronics into confined and challenging vessel layouts, with attention to serviceability and robustness
Supporting system configuration, bring-up, and fault-finding during commissioning and sea trials
Working closely with engineers to translate system designs into practical, buildable installations
Diagnosing and resolving electrical and electronic faults on vessels and test platforms
Maintaining clear build documentation, wiring diagrams, and installation records
Supporting workshop activities and on-water testing as required
Practical experience as a marine technician, electrical technician, or similar hands-on engineering role
Strong understanding of electrical and electronic installation practices
Proven ability to build, install, and troubleshoot real systems — not just understand them in theory
Experience working with cabling, connectors, power systems, and electronic hardware
Methodical and safety-conscious approach to working with electrical systems
Proactive problem-solver with a willingness to take ownership of issues
Effective team worker with good communication skills
Experience working on boats, marine vessels, or offshore equipment
Familiarity with autonomous or remotely operated platforms (USVs, ROVs, AUVs, drones, etc.)
Exposure to marine sensors such as radar, sonar, GNSS, or cameras
Understanding of marine standards, environmental sealing, and corrosion prevention
Basic knowledge of networking or data interfaces used in marine systems (e.g. Ethernet, CAN, serial)
Experience supporting sea trials or field testing
This role suits someone who enjoys hands-on technical work, takes pride in building reliable systems, and is comfortable working both in a workshop and on the water. You should be practical, adaptable, and happy working as part of a multidisciplinary team developing advanced USV technology.
